We have great pleasure in extending a warm welcome to this year’s AGM.
Join fellow volunteers as we reflect on the year’s successes and look forward to 2020.
As a charity our constitution requires us to hold an election every year. We are always keen to strengthen our team and are interested in identifying skills and experience from new volunteers to help us deliver our aims. You don’t need to be a wildlife expert to assist our cause.
Sutton Nature Conservation Volunteers (SNCV) is the main nature conservation organisation, solely dedicated to working in the London Borough of Sutton. Working in partnership with the London Borough of Sutton’s Biodiversity Team, SNCV have been ‘Helping Wildlife on Sutton’s Doorstep since 1987.
SNCV volunteers help carry out practical habitat management to improve and enhance areas of natural greenspace for the local community. Through a programme of volunteer activity people from a variety of backgrounds can gain practical experience and learn new skills. Volunteers have the opportunity to meet new people, improve fitness, as well as learning about wildlife conservation.
As well as the regular practical work volunteers undertake, SNCV, guided by its charitable objectives also promotes the value of Sutton’s conservation sites and raises awareness of biodiversity issues through events and social media.
As a charity, Sutton Nature Conservation Volunteers is run by a small team of Trustees.
The roles of the members of the Executive Team and Trustees within our small charity are not considered to be overly onerous. For guidance some of the key duties and responsibilities are set out below. If you require any further information please let us know.
Trustees are responsible for contributing to the governance and strategic direction of SNCV by developing aims, objectives and goals in accordance with the SNCV Constitution document and legal and regulatory guidelines.
Together with co-Trustees, Trustees will:
- Ensure your charity is carrying out its purposes for the public benefit
- Comply with your charity’s governing document and the law
- Act in your charity’s best interests
- Manage your charity’s resources responsibly
- Act with reasonable care and skill
- Ensure your charity is accountable
